Jittimon Muntranon is a Thai whose work blurs the boundaries between art, craft and architecture.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from Kasetsart University and has completed a short course in Buddhist Art at Mae Fah Luang University. Her large scale installations often resemble fantastical realms: vivid, dreamlike spaces that invite viewer to step into an alternate world.
Known for. Her use of bright, playful colors and tactile materials, Jittimon’s work evokes a sense of child like and joy. She employs labor intensive processes such as stitching, crocheting and handcrafting with paper, fabric and yarn. These materials are deeply connected her own childhood imagination and these intricately assembled pieces often feature interactive components, encouraging audiences to touch, explore and engage physically with the work, also to reflect on human behavior and its relationship to nature and rediscover one’s own spiritual transformation.
She is currently working on an ongoing “Rebirth project”which explores local materials and cultural context of Northern Thailand, while further weaving her imaginative language into specific places and communities.
